Heraklion International Airport (HER) to Rethymno town and the surrounding coast.
Heraklion is the busier of the two Cretan airports and the one most Rethymno arrivals land at. A private transfer means someone is in arrivals when you come through, your luggage goes in the car once, and you are delivered to the door rather than to a bus stop with your cases.

Why arrivals are the part worth getting right
The transfer is the first hour of your holiday and the one most likely to go wrong. You have been travelling, it is probably hot, and the drive west along the north coast is longer than most people expect from the map.
A private transfer removes the three things that turn that hour bad: waiting for a service that runs to its own timetable, moving luggage more than once, and arriving somewhere that is not your accommodation.
What we will confirm before you travel
We are not publishing a price, a drive time or a waiting policy for this route until each is confirmed by the operator, because those are exactly the details that change between seasons and that a visitor plans around.
When you send your flight number and your accommodation address, we come back with the vehicle, the meeting point, the driver’s details and the total — in writing, before you commit.
Send us this and we can quote properly
- Flight number and arrival time
- Number of passengers and bags
- Your accommodation address in the Rethymno area
- Any child seats needed, with ages
Ready when you are
Every transfer is quoted against your flight, your party size and your address. Send those and we will confirm the vehicle, the meeting point and the total in writing.
Send this and we can quote properly
- Flight number or ferry sailing, with arrival time
- Number of passengers and pieces of luggage
- Exact accommodation address
- Child seats needed, with ages
- Whether you also want the return
Questions people actually ask
How long does the drive from Heraklion Airport to Rethymno take?
It runs west along the north coast highway. We are not quoting a figure here until the operator confirms current typical timings, including what to allow in August when the road is busiest. We will give you a realistic time with your quote.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Flight delays are normal and the policy for them is one of the things we confirm in writing before you travel — including how the flight is monitored and how long the driver waits. Send your flight number when you book so the arrival can be tracked.
Is a private transfer better than a taxi or the bus?
It is more expensive than the bus and more predictable than either. The bus runs to its own schedule and leaves you at the Rethymno station rather than your door. A taxi is available on arrival but priced at the rank. A private transfer is booked, priced and confirmed in advance, with someone waiting for you.
Can you take us back to the airport at the end?
Yes — the route runs in both directions and return transfers are arranged at the same time as the arrival. Departure pickups are timed against your flight, which is worth agreeing when you book rather than the night before.
