FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

If your question is about a specific route, the answer is usually on that page. These are the ones that apply across everything.

Booking with us

How do I book an excursion or a transfer?

Send us your dates, your party size and where you are staying. We confirm availability, the vehicle and the total in writing before anything is charged. Nothing is taken on the strength of a page on this site alone.

Why are prices not shown on the pages?

Because a price published once and left online is how visitors end up quoting a figure nobody honours. Excursion and transfer pricing moves with season, vehicle and party size, so we quote against your actual booking rather than a table that goes stale.

Who actually operates the excursions?

Excursions and transfers are operated by Intertrip Tours, and accommodation enquiries go to Intertrip. These are related businesses and we say so on every page where the hand-off happens rather than presenting it as an arm’s-length recommendation.

What does "request-only" mean on a page?

It means we have not confirmed a live, bookable offer for that experience to a standard we are willing to publish. The page stays up because the information is useful, but you enquire rather than book, and we come back with the specifics.

On the day

Where do you pick up from?

Accommodation in Rethymno town and along the nearby coast, door to door. If you are staying further out, tell us the address when you enquire and we will confirm whether we can reach it.

Are the excursions private?

Yes. The vehicle and the day are yours — no other parties join, and the pace and the stops are agreed between you and your driver rather than fixed by a timetable.

Is the driver also a guide?

A driver is not a licensed guide. In Greece, guiding at archaeological sites is a separate qualification, and if you want one at Knossos we will arrange it properly as a separate service rather than improvise at the gate.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We would rather change the plan than drive you somewhere unusable. Crete’s north and south coasts often run different weather, so there is usually a better option on the same day. The formal weather and cancellation policy is confirmed with your booking.

Access and children

Which excursions are suitable with small children?

Lake Kournas is the calmest water in the region, and the Melidoni and Margarites day is short on walking and interesting for older children. The two to think carefully about are the Preveli descent and Knossos in high summer.

Are child seats available?

Availability, notice and cost are confirmed per booking rather than promised here in general. Tell us the ages when you enquire so the right seats are in the vehicle.

What if someone in our group has limited mobility?

Tell us before you book and we will be straight with you about what works. Preveli in particular is not realistic without a steep stepped descent, and there are routes that reach comparable landscape without it.

About this site

Why do some pages say a fact is being confirmed?

Because it is. Where our sources disagree or an operational detail has not been checked this season, we say so rather than publishing the more convenient of two figures. The Melidoni Cave entrance fee is the clearest example — our sources give two different amounts.

Why are there no reviews on the site?

Because we do not yet hold a verified review export with author, date, rating, platform and source URL for each entry. Until we do, there is nothing on the reviews page but an explanation of what will go there.

How is "Rethymno" spelled?

We use Rethymno throughout. You will also see Rethymnon and Rethimno, which are transliterations of the same Greek name, and they refer to the same town.

Still not answered?

Ask us directly. The enquiry form reaches people who actually run these days, and no question about access, heat or whether a route suits your group is too specific.
